Because human beings exist who are gay, straight or bi and acknowledging that they exist by including them in the narrative is not preaching. If you don’t like seeing it, you don’t have to play.
As a writer, sometimes a character just is one of those things. Not an agenda — that’s just a character someone fell in love with and included.

The vast majority of characters are also not those things. Are they also offensive to you? Honestly, if the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters in the mix impacts you negatively then that’s something you should investigate about yourself.
