Twitter, give me a one-syllable noun beginning with B that I can use to modify the word "black", for example: "blood-black". The word should pertain to something that would have existed a couple of centuries ago. Blood, unfortunately, doesn't work here and it's killing me. Help?

Not quite no, but I’d argue “burnt-black” or even “burn-black” still make lexical sense. What’s it for, why must it be a noun?

I had a sentence describing a black metal weapon. Rhythm felt best with a single syllable and a B for alliteration, and modifying ‘black’ with a noun would have been strongest in terms of imagery.
