Twitter, give me a one-syllable noun beginning with B that I can use to modify the word "black", for example: "blood-black". The word should pertain to something that would have existed a couple of centuries ago. Blood, unfortunately, doesn't work here and it's killing me. Help?

Caaaaaan be two syllables as a stretch. I have an unhealthy obsession with alliteration and random rhymes lately and it's going to get the better of me.

okok what about briar? or bootlace? bastille? if there's anyone who understands a stubborn obsession with a very particular, specific writing thing that you HAVE to make work, it's me, so I totally get you
