How do other people deal with the "you should just give up now so you never have to see how badly you fail" thoughts

"no, no, I'm curious. I bet it will be spectacular." Honestly? I make sure I'm hydrated, rested, ate healthy. I retreat from the question if possible. I achieve something, to prove to myself I can and get my brain right. But always, always, always one foot in front of the other
Ooo yeah that's a thought. Try to succeed, but if you fail, fail SPECTACULARLY. But honestly, no, this is good. Thank you.

A doctor who ran an experimental lab at a university near where I live once told me I was the second sickest person she had ever seen. She said most people would have given up by then, and most of her patients were in hospice. I don't give up, I just reduce the problem in size
