I'd probably say to not. It's unfortunately, but I think these days it's better for the burden of volunteering to be on the younger population, if only for the sake of statistics.
My mum has asked if I mind if she volunteers to shop for her elderly ex-patients. She’s 65, but is responsible and has no underlying health conditions. I want to support and empower her, but I’m frightened; she’s the only immediate family left and I love her. Opinions?

They may deliver shopping to her patients' doors. We started doing it at work and (especially) the elderly/vulnerable people are very grateful for it. Might be working phoning the shops to see what options there are.

As much as I'd say she should be careful and I wouldnt recommend it but people are selfless and will always run in line to help others who cant help themselves Unfortunately I think this is her decision since she wants to do it But warn her and look after her regardless

I’ve told her that I would feel uncountable with it but that is her choice and I will support whatever decision she makes. I’ve also suggested other ways she can help, i.e. calling said patients to provide emotional support and social stimulation
