No, honestly I found out through the news and haven’t spoken to my mum about it yet. My concerns come from knowing the general attitudes in the area growing up/visiting — most folks are generally quite tolerant, but they really don’t like having to change for folks.

I mean, few people do, but if it’s something that affects their heritage then it’s gonna rile folk. They could feel like their proud heritage is being taken away, and I don’t want them to associate that bad feeling with POC living in the area.

With past reactions to this same thing (mentioned in the article), it just makes me anxious. My brain tells me this is the sorta thing that gives the left a bad rep and makes people less likely to take us seriously. But I could be coming at this from the wrong perspective.
