My hometown is known as ‘the little white town’ (on signs etc) because Charles Kingsley described it as such in a book *due to the colour of the buildings*. This has been called a racial slur. I’d really appreciate opinions from POC.
My intuition is that this instance compromises the integrity of other arguments. But I’m just one little white girl who probably feels protective of her hometown. I’d like to hear other perspectives that I may not have considered.
I should clarify that I’m not looking to argue or debate, but to listen and understand.
Also, thinking about it, I can understand how replying to this thread might maybe be intimidating if you do have strong opinions on it and don’t wanna get get piled on by Twitter. Well, my DMs are open and I promise I’m nice.
