Umm folks could we pivot the conversation to less ‘your dreams will be hard to achieve’ and more to ‘here are things you can do to work towards your dreams’ because SERIOUSLY

I read a lot of "how to get into the industry" guides earlier this year - most just spat out the "it's going to be hard, okay?" spiel without actually informing me about the steps I could take to achieve The Dream
. Have found mucccch better guides since. 
Not about that life. Sure, yeah, it can be hard, but we should be preparing people to deal with that rather than just putting them off and losing potentially brilliant and vital voices before they’ve even tried

Also, it absolutely sets people up for imposter syndrome and dissuades them from being confident and taking the initiative, which are both attractive traits to employers

"Do you want to write video games? Do you? Do you really? Be honest with me." This is the opening line from the first guide I ever read. A big punch to the gut for someone who's just starting out. Fortunately, other guides were online.
