I read a lot of "how to get into the industry" guides earlier this year - most just spat out the "it's going to be hard, okay?" spiel without actually informing me about the steps I could take to achieve The Dream
. Have found mucccch better guides since. 
Umm folks could we pivot the conversation to less ‘your dreams will be hard to achieve’ and more to ‘here are things you can do to work towards your dreams’ because SERIOUSLY

Not about that life. Sure, yeah, it can be hard, but we should be preparing people to deal with that rather than just putting them off and losing potentially brilliant and vital voices before they’ve even tried

Luck does play a part in achieving your dreams, but more importantly, you have to put yourself in the position for that luck to be worth anything

Since luck is mainly being in the right place with the right people at the right time, I’d say luck is massively outweighed by taking the initiative to go to the potentially right places and talk to the potentially right people
