The church where I grew up. The youth pastor, a bunch of youth leaders and a couple of kids all did blackface as part of a talent show to raise money for a Ugandan charity. Us kids didn’t know it was wrong, but thankfully I didn’t do it, because I was dressed as Rolf Harris.

It was nothing compared to the churches I hear about in the US Deep South, but it was bad. I got so much shit when I started dating an atheist and I feel so bad for him looking back because he had to put up with the effect that had on me and our relationship. He was a better guy.
