I don’t think that’s just you. I’d be surprised by anyone who said they found it easy to help themselves, particularly at their lowest. If it were easy, it wouldn’t be such a problem, but there’s literally something inside us that recoils from recovery.

ngl id rather help others than myself, which i did mention a while ago. maybe if i knew the good i did, it would help me find the ability to help myself, if that makes sense?

You’ll be able to help others more if you’re well. If you burn yourself out to a point where you’re incapable of helping others, well... you’re incapable of helping others. You don’t have to sacrifice self care to care for others; actually, it’s necessary.

So if helping others is what drives you, I’d implore you to actively help yourself, because not doing so will be counterproductive to your aims.
