I am learning to tell people when I am hurting, and when they have hurt me. I will do it calmly and fairly. The friends who respect that are the friends I will embrace. For the rest, I will grieve.
I have the utmost respect for someone who can listen when I tell them ‘this has hurt me’ and talk through it with me rather than throw up battlements and only tell me about their pain rather than discuss both of ours.
But if our relationship is only about how you feel, and you are unwilling to discuss anything else — if me saying that I’m hurting is considered an unkindness — then I’m sorry. I will really miss you. But I deserve a better friend.
I am writing this passive aggressively because it has been made very clear that I am not to respond in such a way that creates a conversation — I am to accept defeat, only. So this is how I feel, right here.
