Yup, and in retrospect it seems like what I had to say was largely right. Nevertheless, I learned to pipe down, or at least not to persist if people didn’t initially see my point. Then the folks at my next job were like... why are you speaking up more? We want your opinion!
After that, I had to work on undoing that conditioning to become more outspoken, to trust my gut and advocate for it properly. I’m gonna do my best to make sure I remember that lesson and only work at places where my opinion isn’t considered inconvenient, but valuable.
