Failure is good at the gym though! I had to keep just trying for one and then kept doing Lat pull downs and other exercises to get me to the point to do it haha

That’s a good point, whenever I succeed I realise I have to increment the weight next time and that’s just scary

Exactly! I was the same with bench. Was just increasing slightly each time. I love how even trying to lift something is progress, just makes that feeling when you DO lift it even more awesome.

Very true! I was stuck just doing the bar on bench for about three weeks and when I finally lifted it I felt soooo good. Also, weird one... I can’t SEE that much of a change yet in my physique (early days) but I feel much better anyway? Nice how that works

Yeah I recently got back into it Jan, I was lucky to see results quickly due to muscle memory (I assume). 100% you feel better even after the first couple of sessions. I just had a wk holiday & Gym Guilt is back with a vengeance

I’ve heard that happens! Once you’ve reached x ability, if you take a break, it doesn’t take nearly so long to reach that point when you get back into it, so you’re never really starting from scratch

It's definitely true, for strength at least. I'm fortunate (for my goals at least) that I've always built muscle easily, plus gain weight easily when I stop haha. I had like a year or two out and I managed to transform again fast. Cardio is my nemesis though and I should do more.
