Similar thing here. I was never the angry type. Then some bad stuff happened a year ago, and since then I’ve really struggled with my temper, particularly with people who seem eager to please and impress. Perhaps because I see something of me in them.
Sounds like the key here is to learn to think of hem as you would someone with any other illness — with empathy, though it sounds like you’re aware of that, and your frustration is that you’re finding that difficult. Do you find you can empathise with your past self?

I almost see it as a similar thing. It’s hard to recover, and this is also hard. I wonder if it’s possible to draw upon your current difficulties and think ‘that’s how hard it is for them to get to where I am’? Failing that, the ‘do nice things for them’ thing I mentioned helps.
