I'm curious. Out of you lot, who actually considers themselves romantic, or good at romance? Can you provide examples as to why you think you are or are not?

That does actually lead to an interesting question: Do you always have to be switched on for romance? Is it all just a fallacy?
I like the idea of romance, but it kind of weirds me out when someone acts romantic in a very intense, serious way. My head goes “real people don’t act like that, they tell poop stories”. It comes across as an act and sets me on edge. My kind of romance includes farts and lols

But then I’m also the same about hugging (though I’ve been teaching myself to do it anyway). Hugging feels insincere to me. Solemn acts of affection feel insincere. I feel insincere when I do them.

I do it because I’ve realised that while it feels weird for me, other people seems to cherish and desire it for reassurance of how I feel about them.

This! I feel that I'm romantic in a real way, but that doesn't equate to what a wider audience perceive as romantic. Which... makes writing it tough lol
