"We should focus on the mission, Simon, we're running out of time. Once the moon disappears behind the mountain peak we won't be able to find the hidden door, remember?" She knew he was right. She knew him too well and that he'd get back to it once they had found the mine.
Simon nodded. “The hidden door. We should make a move.” They packed up the picnic. As they started on their journey to the mountain, she found herself glancing back into the fog.
she said " i cant see anything, how can we tell if we're going the right way?"
Simon smiled and offered her his hand. “Trust me. I know the way.” It occurred to her then that she couldn’t recall seeing him blink. At all.
Maybe this time she didn't just imagine things? One moment and a few steps later she found herself alone and no Simon in sight. "Nice joke, where are you? I can't see a damn thing." There was no answer, only a gloomy whispering that seemed to float through the thick air.
She froze. Her voice trembled. “S-simon?”
