She knew she couldn't tell him about the things she had started hearing recently. She wasn't even sure herself what it was or how to stop it from happening.
she replied "i talk to you about things that upset me and you reply with ridiculous things, what am i supposed to do??"
He shrugged his shoulders. “Fair enough.” His eyes wandered down to the butter knife, clenched in her fist like an ice pick. He said nothing.
"We should focus on the mission, Simon, we're running out of time. Once the moon disappears behind the mountain peak we won't be able to find the hidden door, remember?" She knew he was right. She knew him too well and that he'd get back to it once they had found the mine.
Simon nodded. “The hidden door. We should make a move.” They packed up the picnic. As they started on their journey to the mountain, she found herself glancing back into the fog.
