Question: has anyone here ever approached manuscript first drafts by writing them as essentially stripped-down screenplays, just dialogue and candid, functional descriptions of what’s happening, as a way to just Get It Down and with the intent of fleshing it into prose later?

It's been ages since I wrote a novel draft but I'm going to try the heck out of this method next time because getting past that early wanting-to-rewrite-it-all stage is just the worst.
Let’s both do it! Honestly it’s a shot in the dark and I have no idea if it’ll work but if it can get me a skeleton of a story then at least that’s something to work with.
