Everything you write is a step towards being a better writer. If you don't write, you won't improve. But if you do write -- even if it's crap -- you will improve, and if you're anything like me, being the best writer you possibly can be is something worth striving for <3
Also, the thing you do write is always better than the thing you don't write ;)

Extremely excellent and true, I love editing and prefer it to doing a first draft but you can't polish what's not there!
