My copyeditor has corrected 'you've another thing coming' to 'you've another think coming' and I just googled it and she's right and now everything I've ever known is a lie

2/2 I haaaate the sound of ‘another think coming’ because I’m so used to ‘thing’. I’d have done the same as Tammy and recast the sentence completely.
I see your point! Thankfully the evolution of words and their various forms are recorded in their etymologies. I personally find it just as interesting to see those versions and analyse how they came about as I do reading about their starting points. Nothing is lost
