We all know JMods are mini celebs. Most use it responsibly, others however get a little giddy perhaps. You only have to look at how much hate mail they can receive. We know 2 (ex) JMods who deleted /left because of that. It works all ways. They often get swept up in it all (cntd)
But that doesn't make it right. There are clear lines, in all forms of social interaction, whether it be online, irl, and we should follow those. Knowing those lines is a different matter, most don't, its blurred, they think these people are their friends, make relationships.
That's the root of it all. If someone in a position of power propositions you, saying a hard 'no' or reporting them becomes a very intimidating prospect. You feel like you're at their mercy. What if the company doesn't listen? Does this mod have the power to delete your account?
Pretty much all of those I've spoken to have expressed a fear of speaking out because they're worried it'll be traced back to them and there will be retaliation. But whether these claims are true or not can be discerned by Jagex and handled internally.
