My favourite moments are always the ones with the most emotional drama, but I agree that they should be earned or risk losing what makes them memorable. Re: fun little choices, the things that allow the player to colour the game with their own flavour are my favourite to write.
Little things like choosing what they would drink, or their favourite colour, which only affects minor texture details, but makes them feel the game is their own. I don’t find I talk about those choices with friends, but they do make me feel good.
