If it serves to tell a story, go ahead. But what is the point of throwing it in there just for the sake of it? I had this with the DC shows, at first I didn't notice it but in time i started to notice a trend across their tv-shows.
When I say unintentional, I mean because that's just the creator's experience of the world. All art is a reflection of its creator. If that means you don't like it, that's fair -- you don't have to like it :)

I just think the creative industry could use more diversity.

If we stick with our current premise, you could argue that diversity (which I'm all for) increases the amount of politics in games, because you have more people creating with different views to your own, and those are the views that we notice as 'political'.
