Do I know anyone who composes, or knows how to compose? I’d love to pick your brains (in the non-zombie/morbid sense) for manuscript research.

I've done it, though I might not be the best source of information. What kinds of things are you looking for?
I’m experimenting with the idea of having my viewpoint character turn to musical notation to express her most intense emotions. Want to talk to someone who could advise me on how that could work, how I would write it, what I need to learn, etc. That’s probably a lot to ask though

Hmm, to me a lot of music notation is more of a descriptor than anything else (Staccato, Lagato, Slur, Slide, Vibrato, etc). Like "As the foot steps came to a cresendo" I feel like actual music would be better to express an intense emotion, but I could be wrong.
