Why anyone would play through Assassin's Creed: Odyssey as Alexios is beyond me.pic.twitter.com/LEpMSDU1Fz

TBF, Kassandra would make a badass and truly fearsome antagonist. I’d be more scared of her than Alexios.

True, but how often do we see women portrayed only as damsels or villains in games?

That’s a good point! I personally don’t mind women as villains when they’re done well, but that’s partially because villains are often the characters with the most agency, the reason why the hero acts at all. It’s the most important role, IMO. Or it should be, at least.

But I take your point. More important than protagonist/antagonist is the viewpoint/player character, as they shape how we see the world. That’s definitely where we need more women and minorities, and part of why playing as Kassandra is

IDK about the damsel element as I’m not yet far enough through the game...

Ah, I didn't mean in THIS game in particular. But previous games of the series, even the "badass" ladies were always romantic interests that needed saving.

Ah OK XD Yeah, that’s a problem... Their gender apparently necessitates a concession to their badassery to be believable. BS. Just give me a cast of *unapologetically* diverse characters, good and ‘evil’, who are well written and multidimensional.
