I try and remind myself that most of the time a reasonable argument will be met with an angry rebuttable, and that most of the time I should save myself the trouble and not comment. Gotta protect your own well being!

Exactly. Lately, I've been specifically trying to avoid weighing in on stuff that makes me angry for those very reasons. I'll just end up feeling like shit, and I'll get nothing from it either. The world didn't change because I had my say. The world didn't care either way.

Education is an issue I normally weigh in on since I've got my masters in that. What I normally do is mix in a lot of questions in with my points. It demonstrates that I have expertise, and makes the people talking with me aware the situation is so much bigger than they thought.
