Like... I love programming in my free time, and I'm about to get a programming job, but I'm scared I might hate it. Inability to design things how I want, forced teamwork, forced hours, projects I don't care about. I mean, perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm kinda scared I won't like it.

Hopefully that won't happen, but you won't know until you start. May turn out there was no need for worry. I think that's what you need to assume will happen, and then worst case scenario possible future you can deal with it if the opposite happens.

That's what happened to me. Got my degree in architecture, worked in my field for 4 years and was so bored and burnt. Switching to project management in commercial construction was amazing, but pretty different in terms of expertise, but here I am 4 years later loving it.

And it all had a happy ending! That's great :) Life doesn't end if the career you pictured yourself in doesn't meet your expectations
