The best advice I ever got was that writer's block simply doesn't exist. It's something we tell ourselves exists while we wait for the muse to knock on our door with magic inspiration. When all we need to do is push through and get words on the page, no matter how bad they are

So embrace up the crappiness and revisit later?

I struggle with perfectionism a lot. For me, I often take a break (maybe a day) before coming back with the goal of just getting words down. Even if they're imperfect fragments, I try to keep the self-criticism down and let my word vomit slowly evolve into something I'm proud of!

I find a quiet place, review all the story beats I have to hit, and grind out a draft. I then remind myself that I'm not alone, and that others on the team will help make it better during table reads. It's sometimes intimidating but worth every minute of embarrassment.

Must take a hell of a lot of trust to let your colleagues see a WIP. I'd find myself constantly trying to apologise for it and explain.

I'm not a writer but I have a background in architecture. The best advice I've been given is to set a routine where you will draw solutions to problems. Even if they're bad, just keep drawing for the time you've set and do it daily.
-
Your brain will get used to the routine and will start problem solving in your offtime, so that when it's time to draw or write in your case, it will finally break through. This has always worked for me, even if the side effect is that I dream of drawing sometimes.

If you find yourself questioning whether an idea you were sure about a few days ago is even a good idea, just trust your past self. They were much more clear headed when they were excited about it than you are when you're down on it. This is true 99% of the time.
-
That's very true! In this case, the idea's already been supplied...I just need to actually write it. And somehow everything I write today just seems wrong. Think I'm just going through an anxiety spiral.

When I wrote songs and I couldn't think of the next words, I would continue to write the same words over and over until the next word slipped out. Maybe make a bunch of copies of the beginning and start writing a few different next sentences and lay in a hammock to think on it!

As far as fear induced, perhaps writing multiple branches will ease your mind. Also, it's great to have someone you trust to read your stories especially if you're afraid. I have been writing a journal on and off for a year and I'm scared to show it but..
