Been having a think about YA fiction. Lots of people shit on it as a 'lesser' form of literature, but that's not the case at all. If anything, YA actually has more use in our society; it helps to develop and expand malleable young minds by exposing them to philosophical dilemmas.

I don't understand why people would consider it a "lesser" form of literature. It's mostly in YA books where most big and expansive fictional worlds and universes are created. I love YA books.

Agreed. I think it's because they're typically less dense, relying less on wordplay itself as an art form and more on the action itself. In my eyes, they simply have different values. You get something different from each.

And YA is almost exclusive in its ability, for better or worse, to appeal and be more accessible to people who are still forming opinions and worldviews due to their age. There's more room to make a difference when it matters.
