According to Twitter, being left wing now means being categorically pro Antifa and offensive violence against the alt right in general. Anything else makes you a centrist/nazi sympathiser. You doin me a heckin big confuse, Twitter.

As a Jewish person, hearing people condemning Antifa makes me deeply uncomfortable. I know it can seem like they use violence against ideas (usually a disproportionate response), but the fundamental thing to remember is that neo-Nazi ideas aren't peaceful ideas.

They're not in favour of nationalising the railways, you know? They want me dead. You can't defeat these ideas with rational argument because they aren't rational ideas - besides, I and other targeted groups refuse to debate our right to exist. Why should we have to?

So what is your solution?

I think you're misunderstanding Antifa as the be-all and end all. They're a very specific solution to a very specific problem - that of neo-Nazi's marching in the streets chanting "Jews will not replace us".

To fascism? Voting. Laws restricting hate speech. Better education? Honestly, I don't know. I'm afraid.

I 100% agree. Voting and education. But those don’t require violence :)
