Yup. I was told I was as bad as a neo-nazi on Sunday because I suggested it might be a bad idea to use offensive violence against white supremacists. Crazy how many people seemed to keen (at least on the internet) to go full on vigilante.

It's so disheartening. They seem utterly unaware that protesting and free speech/expression and free association is how we have achieved the HUGE leaps forward socially that we have. They want to give all that up in order to score some political points.

It's counterproductive anyway. It'll just land them in prison where they can't do anything to help the cause they apparently care so much for -- while also damaging its reputation.

I just expect more from people I guess. Well that and I used to be very naive about the left not having an authoritarian circles anymore. Figured those lessons had been learned.

In the thread about women, someone replied telling me my experience wouldn't be welcome. I waved them off, saying I was sure people in these circles would be accommodating, but later returned and admitted sadly that they were right.

The saddest part about that is that group also probably operates under the pretense that they are working to empower women. Another one of those head-shakers.

Thing is, I think many people in that thread are working for that goal and in the right way. I was just unlucky.
