I wish this was an exception, but it's evidently not -- both in the replies to the OP and my own experiences speaking with others with eating disorders. :/
Their answer also excludes many bulimics from getting help, since it's common for those with bulimia to actually maintain their current weight rather than lose due to the binging behaviours that often precede purging. They may not get thin, but it still damages them in other ways
Also why I dislike the casual usage of the term 'binge'. For bulimics, binging means acid reflux, self-hatred, crying, suicidal thoughts, potential debt (binges are expensive), and starvation/purging on the near horizon. An enjoyable, day-long Netflix marathon is not comparable.
I can't (and won't) tell you what you can and can't say. But I can politely ask you to be considerate of and compassionate to others' experiences. Whether you're receptive to my request is up to you, but indicates your character to onlookers.
