I don’t think so because it’s an activity that can be used for fun without major damage. Kind of like it’s not unethical to own a water park even if it means it’s likely someone will eventually drown. More unethical to own a cigarette company since those aren’t safe regardless

Furthermore, people aren’t encouraged to drown in water parks — they’re protected from it. But casinos, for example, will take strategic measures to maximise how much money you spend and how long you stay, which could be consider to be nurturing the seeds of addiction

Perhaps, and those procedures they take to increase the addictive qualities could move them into unethical territory, but simply owning a gambling business does not necessarily mean you employ any or all of those. It’s a matter of specifics I think. Theoretically a gambling...

...business could take steps to limit gamblers from betting enough to cause harm. So, I’m not sure that devoid of additional information that owning/operating one is automatically unethical
