No one cared when premiums increased as much as 50% when the mandate originally kicked in.

How does not being forced to do something cause something else to happen. They can CHOOSE not to buy it if they don't want it. is your argument that the only way Obamacare worked was by the threat of penalty?

That may be true, but the mandate was not good public policy. I have a friend and also a nephew who were uninsured because they couldn't afford $600/month, so they were fined and that is just unfair. Needed greater subsidies.

No, we don't need more government spending. It's like student loans. When they know the gvt is going to kick in more, they raise the costs. When ppl stop buying, they look for ways to increase their customers base. One way is too lower prices.

Translation: 3 million people who don't want to purchase health insurance will no longer be forced to under threat of force.

But why? It's saving them so much money and is ultra-awesome; why would they not re-up for more of The Awesome?

Exactly the goal of Trump and Republicans. They've been undermining the ACA for years to drive costs up and the number of insured down.

Tell me, will those people somehow be PROHIBITED from buying insurance? Or are they choosing not to buy it? And, no, they are not the same thing

My oldest turns 26 this yr, drops off my insurance. Can't afford policy through his employer (full time mgr) and can't afford any obamacare policy. he will go without, which isn't great, but at least he's not going to be fined on top of it for not purchasing unaffordable product

"Result in" would be a better word choice than "cause."
