So dumb question: what exactly *is* the Amazon/JPM/Berkshire Hathaway venture? A new insurance plan for employees? A network of hospitals?

I read the announcement as the three companies deciding to self-insure. But maybe they’re opening their own hospitals, a mini-NHS for Amazon. Who knows!

Guess: risk-bearing self-funded provider network heavily reliant on telehealth and employer-based healthcare outlets. Non-physician practitioners doing most of the heavy lifting.

I wanna know too. Costs won't go down too far if they don't have a plan to squeeze doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies.

Not without an effective plan to contain costs. Either provide bad care or benefits (squeeze the patient), or lower reimbursement levels (squeeze providers).

Well, JPMorganChase(JPM) run by Jamie Dimon has been fined billions 4 felony financial transactions, yet no-one went 2 jail. Berkshire Hathaway, run by Warren Buffett is largest hedge fund in U.S., & Amazon, run by richest person in world, Jeff Bezos. Best oligarchs money can buy

It will probably be a giant HMO for Amazon/JPM/BERK employees only where they can get primary care, specialist care and Rx in a streamlined, simple, cost-effective way. Think no more confusing insurance statements and networks and hidden costs.

If it is an HMO, who is doing the managed care? Utilization review? What is the network?
