Diagnosis based algorithms for deciding urgency of ED use are too blunt to use on individual level. The most commonly used one does mot even include injuries. Ridiculous.

Last year my kid bloodied his nose on the playground. I took him to the urgent care, paid a $30 copay, and they just told me to take him to the ER! ER just sent us home to “monitor.”

This is why the ACA had a mandate. But this lady HAS Insurance! Just a crappy company. She had no idea of the diagnosis. And that condition is painful! Big INS, take your $ cover your ER..... maybe.
