Yeah I go back and forth on whether I should stick with my plan (which costs about $400 a month in premiums) or essentially self-insure by setting aside some money, since I have an older doggo more likely to get denials. I also probably overthink this :)

Since I’ve been pulled into this conversation, I’ll chime in that I’ve had good luck with pet insurance for my dog, but I signed her up at 10 weeks, so no pre-ex issues.

That seems to be key. Was just exchanging email w/ someone who also bought for puppy and has done very well with it over 12 years.

Yeah I think my experience would be totally different if I’d bought the day I got Spencer. Insurance near certainly makes sense when you get a new dog!
