A fair comparison, I knew a vet who talked about how terrible pet insurance was and how her clients were always pissed off about the cost of procedures as a result.

yes, me. got pretty good coverage for the knee operation, but it doesn't pay much for more routine stuff (which it's supposed to cover). I should probably switch to catastrophic.

What's the AV on pet coverage? I've assumed not high. My friend said many said the price of their own x-rays was cheaper than their pets'. A good example of a few pricing problems!

I’m submitting another claim this month (poor dog threw out his back!) but if they don’t cover that, I’ll likely be canceling my policy and self-insuring!

Oh and my insurance plan is Trupanion — I went with them because they publish their AVs, but in my experience they’re very aggressive with the pre-ex denials.
