That statement doesn't really contradict what the Times reported

you're right. however, it suggests that the position is not yet firm.
-
Yeah - agree with Julie, I think they’re trying to clarify they haven’t decided to defend the CSRs, which is significant.
-
I agree w/that, but the original NYT piece didn't say otherwise, did it?
-
One possibility is that they don't want this to become the story:https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2017/04/11/in-the-battle-over-obamacares-future-trump-just-blinked-bigly/ …

This is one more reason it's going to be very interesting to read their emails with the hill. https://www.americanoversight.org/our-actions/health-care-investigation …

I don't get why it is not HHS solemn duty to be sure ACA is successful for citizens. It is the law.

Pres. Trump doesn't realize it, but he now owns the ACA. If 20M+ lose coverage, it happens on his watch. It will be reflected at the polls.

It's a shame that the White House has no way to call Schumer or Pelosi, has to sit around waiting for their calls on how to fix the ACA.

This is so poorly written. A "losing cause"? "failed Obamacare plan"?
-
She's just channeling Trump.
-
It definitely reads like he wrote it!
-
How is it they have embedded in each agency someone incapable of using the English language competently AND charged them with communications
-
Same way they've installed someone as the head of many agencies who's mission is to undermine them.

Is it normal for such statements to be so overtly partisan?

Not in my experience reading agency statements.
