@palafo Why is it going up?!? -
less health care, more inequality, more poverty in certain demographic groups. US=less middle class than 1990
-
Not to mention overuse of seriously higher risk medical procedures for doctor/patient "convenience"
-
do u mean c-sect? Idk but i would bet thats not who is dying. Would like a statistical brkdwn
-
That is one of several and the complications that come along w/unnecessary use of these procedures.
-
One data set: http://rabn.org/pdf/CsectionRates.pdf … There are many others. Most are no longer behind paywalls.

you can also blame home birthing right there. Not just a healthcare problem but freedom to die in "natural" childbirth.
-
UK health care encourages home births to low risk pregnancies.
-
So? The possibility of low-risk home births doesn't change its higher risk compared to hospital births in practice.
-
No. There is higher complication & death rates in hospitals for mothers and newborns in low risk pregnancies.
-
It is literally safer to have a home birth with a certified nurse midwife in a low risk pregnancy at home.
-
when it moves from low-risk to high-risk it's the hospital that gets the bad statistic. But yeah hospital problems too ofc.

Higher maternal mortality with cesarean sections, which are up from about 20 to 32% over that time as as well.

If I remember correctly, we've been near the top (bad) of industrialized nations when it comes to maternal mortality for a while
