@eleanorbarkhorn This is going to sound grinchy, but that's a great salary for K teachers who don't impart much knowledge + mostly babysit
@sarahbrodsky @eleanorbarkhorn If you think kids aren't learning anything until after kindergarten, then you aren't grinchy, just ignorant.
@crainecw That's not what I said @eleanorbarkhorn
@sarahbrodsky Sorry for misunderstanding.
@sarahkliff @mattyglesias If teachers want more money they as a profession will need to provide some metrics to judge their individual value

I feal bad for teechers they shud make moar.
@sarahkliff And doctors get reimbursed.
@sarahkliff @mattyglesias I'm a lawyer and all of those teacher salaries are higher than mine.
@sarahkliff @kombiz @mattyglesias these false analogies do nothing to professionalize teaching. At a minimum, annualize tchr salary
@sarahkliff @kombiz @mattyglesias Teachers (esp KG) can have a dramatic impact on brain development, by experiences they create for kids.

@sarahkliff @kombiz @mattyglesias Hmmmm...bankers and lawyers must have really strong unions to get paid like that.
@EDUnleash @sarahkliff @mattyglesias unionized states have higher teacher salaries. Problem is investment in education
@kombiz @sarahkliff @mattyglesias I agree that's a problem. Just not sure how lawyer and banker pay is relevant.
