Ooo, that makes me so happy! Early in my career I read an editorial where the OB nurse said "You are with families on what most people will say is the most important day of their lives. Whether they love you or hate you, they'll remember you!" A big responsibility!

In many European countries, a nurse visits the mother during her first few days home, answers questions, helps with breast-feeing. V. impt for 1st-time Moms. In the U.S. most people can't afford this, or they think "my mother will be there." Except your mother's not a nurse!
