Similar effect in the countries with strong maternity leave policies? e.g., in the UK mothers get a full year of leave, with up to 39 weeks of pay. 1st 6 weeks are at 90% wages, and the rest at £145.18/week. Most mothers I knew took at least 6 months of that.
