I mean like @binarybits says, the reason why Tesla is getting negative press is because Tesla is having a "rough" year, but also consider the implication of Musk's contention — is he saying Tesla has *always* been this bad and reporters just weren't reporting to the same extent?

also I will never stop lolling at grimes claiming she has "receipts" as though Tesla public relations doesn't have the phone number of every transportation reporter in the country

It's a damn shame the "ethics in journalism" folks have made such fools of themselves with their awful hot takes, racism, and misogyny, because journalism is an important place to have good ethics.
-
yeah, and I'm a fan of video games and free speech, but also like, if i put that shit in my twitter bio it means something *very different* lol
-
Yeah. It's a bit of a terrible-person-dog-whistle 'round these here parts.
-
I have skeptic and atheist way at the end of mine for the same reason.
-
I mean, I'm those things too, but I think behaviors are more important than beliefs. I find that someone's beliefs have very little bearing on whether or not someone is a good person. Whether or not they think through how their behavior impacts others is a better indicator.
-
Sure, I just put them there as a description, especially because I tweet about that a lot. And I think that beliefs do impact behavior, e.g., Trump support being correlated with Christian Nationalism.
-
Sure if you poll a bunch of folks on their belief, you'll see some (probably lots of) correlation with their behavior. But it's not causation, and that's kind of my point.
-
I think there's definitely some causation, but it probably goes both ways to some extent. I don't think it's entirely a lurking variables effect.

Musk's fanbase can be pretty rabid at times, too. I wonder if his fans who eat this shit up realize how similar they are to MAGA twitter.

I don't want to stereotype the guy, but he spent forever branding himself as an eccentric, and now he looks, well, like an eccentric founder of company recklessly disregarding all internal and external signals. What are shareholders & customers to think?https://twitter.com/JessicaHuseman/status/999370535086718976 …

Playing the victim to "big oil" is not a good look. Tesla seems to be going the same way as Tucker, et. al.
-
Agreed. But must turned the transportation industry or at least deflected it a bit towards renewable energy.
-
As have Nissan, General Motors, the makers of electric buses, wind farms, etc. Tesla has some fundamental business problems and trashing "big oil" or the press isn't going to fix them.
-
Yep, agreed. Blaming others never fixes internal problems.
