Lindsay Graham just asked the first good question today and i'm kind of mad about it

Owning a Yamaha piano doesn't make a Yamaha motorcycle more useful. Graham's questioning is on point. Nothing like Facebook has ever existed before. https://twitter.com/OneAcmeMan/status/983807453455249408 …

The answer is Twitter, the thing we’re using right now to share and discuss our opinions on fb & this testimony. Very telling that he left it off the list.
-
Do you use Twitter and Facebook interchangeably? Because I sure as heck don't.
-
They both track everyone everywhere and amass everyone’s data all the time. Did you go to and read the linked article in the tweet above? Twitter knows how many people clicked and how long they stayed on that site.
-
But on facebook people list their location, birthday, employer, every friend/relative,every school attended, every major event in life so "stalker" (ad) can build profile of u. Although you can include all that on Twitter, most don't. My twitter profile is fake name, etc
#Zuckerberg -
Location, age, profession, education, life events - your vital ‘specifics’ aren’t vital to them. The way you behave, how you react, the persistence/spread of ideas in groups, & who knows what else are more important to data mining users of fb & T.
@WingsKribes140@GreedyRunner -
The person was asking you if you use facebook and Twitter interchangeably. Most do not, is what i was trying to convey in pointing out differences between the two.
-
My answer is yes. I provide data about my thinking and reactions to news, ideas, conversations, and interactions with others to the data mining corporations FB and T interchangeably because both sift through everything with state of the art software tools.
-
Are you networked the same on Twitter as on Facebook? I maintain almost zero of the same connections between the two.

I'd like to see his answer to that and have someone ask the follow up: "Who actually are your customer?"

We're not the customer, we're the product (data on our likes/dislikes/behaviors, to be specific). Ask any advertiser (the *actual* customer) who FB's competition and they'll respond pretty much like Zuckerberg did.

ah yes, I remember back in the early days when it was just me and my friends on amazon dot com. like, we'd be writing product reviews at each other all day... and then my parents got accounts on amazon dot com and then it wasn't as cool anymore
-
to be fair though, in windows 10 it does look like microsoft is trying to morph the start menu into being a kind of facebook/app-store competitor...
-
(I mean, microsoft is definitely not facebook, but they so desperately want Win10 to be a facebook+iTunes chimera that just spews adverts at you all day when all you wanted was to open the document you were working on two weeks ago.)
-
I guess the only thing off about Graham's question is that he proceeds from the false assumption that the users are customers? Like, from the perspective of fb's actual customers, zuck almost has a point: there are other platforms where you can do targeted advertising.
-
(But even then, fb seems to be a monopoly, because who else has that kind of data? But then that skips past the question of whether we want any companies like that to exist in the first place, monopoly or otherwise.)

There is always Google+ and let's not forget that Graham still uses a clamshell cell phone.
-
is Google+ an equivalent service, given that the entire point of a "social network" has to do with the "social" part? and the flip phone thing is a pointless distraction
-
I was kidding about G+. And frankly, it is amazing how many Senators do not have a SmartPhones. That means they have no personal understanding of how this world works but still make decisions about technology that impact us all. Not a great bias to have IMO
-
my greater worry would be about how they're all rich capitalists but i guess yours applies too. just seemed a bit like you were trying to excuse the zucc's stupid garbage there
-
For somethings, there are no excuses.....I wish Twitter had an irony font....
