Oh yeah let’s protect this guy who could be swapped out for like hundreds of other equally qualified individuals at the cost of OLYMPIC ATHLETES. You can be an irreplaceable woman and you’ll still be worth less than Some Dude

This story has gotten nowhere near the amount of play it deserves until now, at the end stages. It couldn’t compete with the other stories coming out because the other stories were about famous men, this guy is just SOME DUDE

Until this latest cycle he didn’t even get named in headlines because no one would recognize his name, they’d only recognize his victims’ names. Like WHAT the fuck

This is one of those things that somehow manages to leave me with even less faith in humanity than when I started

Why would you resort to a cover up when you could just hit the yellow pages

his firing would draw attention and questions and people would know there was at least 1 molestation, covering up means the public would know about 0 molestations. it's pretty monstrous math

The other despicable thing is how state medical boards do not protect patients from abusive doctors.

"Look, he might be an abusive sexual predator, but he gets results." You know that's what people were thinking if not explicitly saying to one another. Because people are terrible.

It's just like with Penn and Paterno, the Universities actively work to protect monsters.
-
Paterno has treated the rapes/molestations like it was an inconvience. That whole scandal made me so happy that I turned down my Penn State acceptance because I would be punching a lot of students and alumni in the face with all that defending Paterno.

it’s really baffling but I saw some michigan-based gymnasts talking about it on FB – my classmate wanted to see him SO BADLY when she was younger, as did the others, for w/e reason he was just THE doctor every gymnast had to go to. revered, adored. but idk why!
-
two people who actually did see him as young gymnasts said he even misdiagnosed their injuries! and he was kicked out of med school…? so I can’t figure out why, in this subculture, he wasn’t just “some guy”

What whipped me into an actual frenzy yesterday was that he had THE GALL to write to the judge, that listening to victim testimony was too hard and he shouldn't have to do it. THE GALL.

That's the usual corporate dodge for this sort of thing: an NDA shrouded quiet settlement, when evidence and victim's counsel are good, and then, the perpetrator goes back to "generating singular and essential value" for the organization.

According to the claims of enough women in the States, that's insufficient to stop s.o. becoming President, however...
