I wouldn't have thought it possible but like, I swear I've seen tweets about GM/DM techniques every day for the last few days

we all realized we have no hope of a future with stable jobs or houses so we might as well either do the stuff we wanted to do as kids but were afraid to/didn't have friends who would play with us, or we went back to the shit that we liked as kids

also everyone listens to the adventure zone

I would say the basic terminology, like all nerd culture, has become far more mainstreamed but actually playing the game isn't like Marvel movies or Doctor Who
-
Knowing about D&D is like seeing the movie, playing D&D is like standing in line to see the movie opening night

Seems like yes. People are more desperate to escape reality now.

When I worked at Kickstarter I felt like a huge loser when the D&D teams didn’t have a spot for me. So maybe?

I think the latter. I spend a lot of time around non-nerds and we still don’t fuck with D&D. I say “we” bc I legit grew up believing it was played in satanic cults and have still never played it
-
yeah, I avoided it like the plague growing up (and still do) but I've definitely known about it since I was like 10.

My office is starting a group, so I'm going to say yes.

For me it's like, I was always kinda into this thing, and now I'm old enough to a) not care if it's cool, and b) work at a Real Job with other nerds who will play with me

haha I had never played and just started in my 30s. I don't know how acceptable it is but it's hella fun.

seems that way, because we no longer feel compelled to take it as seriously, and can drink beer

I would never have played it before but since age 30 my friends and I have embraced it. It's a cracking way to see friends you don't live near every so often, plus it's a really good laugh.
