Women keep asking me if anything will actually change after Weinstein. I always say yes, if only because infosec, of all fucking things, has changed.https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/21/16807116/infosec-community-sexual-predators-weinstein-assault …

I also also wonder whether race and gender of abusers/abused had to do with ability to believe? Not sure. Not my community, as such.
-
It's hard to believe it didn't not play a role but I also think there are too few data points to draw conclusions. JA was a missing stair on top of it all, I heard almost universally from people in the US that they had always thought MMB was a good guy.
-
And as for Captain Crunch — both women and men alleged misconduct re: JA, so I'm conflicted on how gender breakdown of victims changed things. I just don't know.
-
I am tempted to read patterns of privilege into all of these factors but when I think it out, there's just a lot going on.
-
Yeah - not enough cases to know for sure, but one can have fingers crossed these patterns of belief in the future...
