"don't assume something about my child's gender identity based on how she looks...........also take it from me she's definitely not trans"

making a definitive declaration about the gender of your six year old child is normal in our society but let's not pretend it's feminism?
-
they're six, yo
-
yeah it's shitty to make assumptions about a kid's gender identity based on how they dress but why is the takeaway not "respect my kid pls"
-
as opposed to "excuse me but you're wrong and my DAUGHTER is a GIRL and i would fully SUPPORT HER if she were TRANS but she's NOT"
-
this is certainly not the cruelest thing a cis parent has ever done but passing it off as the real wokeness is pretty bad

"...I have clear-cut solutions. We wear dresses on Thursdays, and any time she wants to wear her tie, she has to wear a skirt, too."

Ok, I read the op-ed and I get her perspective -- I can identify with not being very femme but also being cis. But that other piece? OH NO
-
My problem was that it was all about her feelings and not her kid's which is kind of messed up and then it turned out that attitude was uhhh
-
yeah, her experience as a parent is centered. It's unproblematic for her child, clearly -- the kid sounds awesome.
-
problematizing the gender binary "oh she's not acting like a girl, she must want to be a boy" is great! centering yourself - less great!

THAT http://PARENTING.COM PIECE THOUGH? Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooonononononononono
